Ottawa Islamic School

About the expansion project

Due to a significant shortage of space, the Ottawa Islamic School currently operates without essential facilities such as a science laboratory, library, and reference rooms. Today, 100% of our students study without access to a dedicated library or lab, impacting their ability to explore, experiment, and grow beyond textbooks. While our dedicated staff and students continue to work hard to uphold academic standards, the lack of proper infrastructure makes it increasingly difficult to provide the quality education our children deserve.

In recent years, enrollment at OIS has steadily increased by over 40%, a clear reflection of the growing demand for quality Islamic education in our community. However, our current building can no longer meet the evolving needs of our students. To address these ongoing challenges, we are launching a much-needed expansion project—an effort that depends on the continued generosity and support of our Muslim community. This expansion is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about investing in the future of our youth and ensuring they have access to a well-rounded, spiritually grounded, and academically enriching environment. The expansion project includes:

The expansion journey

PHASE 1

Foundation & Structural Development

We began by laying a strong foundation—both physically and symbolically. The groundwork, structural framing, and base construction were completed with your generous support, setting the stage for a lasting legacy.

Raised: 3 Million Goal: 3 Million

PHASE 2

Exterior & Core Architecture

With the structure in place, we brought the school’s vision to life. The exterior walls, roofing, and core infrastructure now stand tall—ready to protect and serve generations of future students.

Raised: 2.8 Million Goal: 2.8 Million

PHASE 3

Interior Development & Finishing

Now, we need your help to bring the inside to life. From building classrooms and prayer spaces to installing fixtures and finishing touches—this is the phase that transforms a building into a place of purpose, learning, and belonging.

Raised: 0.8 Million Goal: 3 Million

The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others’. (Al-Mu’jam al-Awsat)

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261)
